"Principal Walmart, how about you try to take Latis under your wing again..."
"Hey, I heard that too!" Zerris couldn't help but complain.
"Your methods are so despicable! Is what you're doing even legal?"
“Forget about legality,” Richman laughed heartily. “What man could resist the temptation of being kept? It’s nothing but a blatant scheme! Besides, Her Majesty the Queen said that the headmasters of the academies are not allowed to kiss each other, so let’s put our argument to rest!”
"Holy crap, the master of the Inch-Stopping Domain!" Zerris stared in shock at Rickyman as he turned and left, cursing under his breath.
Suddenly, he frowned as he looked at the flickering magic crystal chandelier in the center of the ballroom and shifted his gaze to a dark corner where the nobleman who had lost the dance battle was standing.
"Why are all the families in the capital using magical artifacts made by the Bogu Academy? Tsk, there must be an enemy within our ranks..."
Ignoring the panicked students in the noisy ballroom, Zerris firmly held onto the weak connection of the magic network amidst the suddenly chaotic magic energy, and used his flight spell to fly towards the roof.
……
The music from the magic phonograph quickly became distorted as it was reduced in frequency, eventually emitting a distorted, wailing noise as the wheel slowly turned.
"Hmm? This feels familiar..."
Latis watched as the magical mist, almost visible to the naked eye, was shaken apart, and sensed the severed connection in the magic network. He murmured wistfully:
"EMP again? Ugh, I shouldn't have come to this ball."
boom!
No sooner had the words been spoken than, amidst the students' clamor, the constantly flickering magic crystal chandelier collapsed from the very center of the ballroom!
"He's there, the phantom of the opera..."
Latis stared blankly at the chandelier falling towards the pairs of dancers, his mind automatically starting to announce the program. Without thinking, he immediately rushed to the chandelier where the light and shadow were mixed.
At this moment, amidst the chaotic magical energy, only he could use magic!
"Gigantify... plus the Enchantment to Grow Large!"
As the spellbook was turned, the magic power within Latis poured out and flowed into the runes of the Giant Transformation spell. Then, unfamiliar enchantment patterns emerged unstablely from his soul and merged with the runes of the Giant Transformation spell.
"Behold my...budget version...the Law of Heaven and Earth!"
Latis slid through the tangled light grid, instinctively closing his eyes and assuming a lifting posture.
boom!
The shattered light shards, still slightly hot, crashed into Latis's massive hand. Amidst the screams of those around him, he shook the shards off his forehead, opened his eyes, looked down, and breathed a sigh of relief.
Fortunately, apart from a few unlucky ones who got injured, everyone else was fine...
However, just as he breathed a sigh of relief and was about to dispel the spell, he suddenly made eye contact with a man dressed in a black bodysuit.
The man stared blankly at the massive pectoral muscles beneath Latis's ripped clothes for a moment, then sheathed the knife stuck in the student's chest. Suddenly, black mist enveloped his entire body, and he slowly drifted away.
"What kind of spell is this? Why did the magic network fail at this crucial moment? Oh right, magic element disorder... Then this man... a grimoire? Or divine magic?"
He took a deep breath, mentally reviewing the basic characteristics of the "thief" profession, then, without further thought, shouted loudly to the students:
"Attention! Enemy in sight!"
Faced with the roar of the giant Latis, the students were stunned for a moment before suddenly realizing that their lives were in imminent danger. In a moment of urgency, the high school mages' qualities allowed them to quickly calm down, and they formed pairs and squatted on the ground.
"I can't see the enemy at all, in the dark..."
The thought had barely formed in Latis's mind when he heard a familiar voice ring out in the distance.
"Latis! I'm back!"
He paused for a moment, then turned to look at the dark entrance to the hall. The radiant Knight of Light, who had kicked open the nearly ten-meter-high door, burst into laughter as she waved happily.
"So you were my dance partner tonight, Jennifer!"
……
……
"Don't you take any contingency measures before you hold a dance party?"
Zerris, cloaked in magic, floated in the air, watching the dark divine power dissipate, and addressed the headmasters who had just flown out of the Golden Hall:
"What's going on? Is this how they welcome me back?"
“We’re on guard, but we don’t know what it is.” Richman, holding the levitation triangular artifact that stabilized the magic element, looked at the sky and murmured:
"So the little skirmishes in various corners of the ball were just a pretext. Their real goal was to destroy the entire Lundia? Even the magic network has been cut into pieces. It's really hard to catch them."
"Who are you?" Zerris couldn't help but ask, "With my temper flaring up, if you don't chase after me soon, I'm going to attack!"
“Little gods of Janium!” Richman exclaimed in surprise.
"You brought the magic network with you, how are they supposed to survive? Have you forgotten that the other professions in Norard gradually disappeared after being completely replaced by the magic network? Only those with poor magical aptitude could still form a warrior class..."
"Uh, so narrow-minded?" Zerris muttered, then said sullenly, "Even the God of Light of Norard doesn't have any objections, does he?"
"God of Light... never mind." Richman hesitated, then shook his head, watching the dark divine power about to dissipate, took a deep breath, clenched his fist, and said calmly:
"The spire wall has been accumulating energy for so long, it's time to turn around again and enter a period of explosive growth."
He gazed at the rows of mage towers standing in the darkness and said coldly:
"Everyone knows that Lundia is the capital of mages, but they don't know why. Mages gather here and have built over three thousand mage towers over the centuries. Although countless have died of old age or left, at least a thousand high-ranking mages are still active in this city, and every mage tower..."
A dazzling, magical light emanated from Richman's hand. He gathered the magic into a giant sphere, then hurled it forward with all his might, shouting:
"They're all from the same magic network node!"
A massive ball of magical light landed on the inner city's spire wall, silently merging into the already nearly saturated magical energy of the wall. Then, amidst a tranquil ripple, the spire wall floated up, swirling vertically like tumbling waves.
hum!
The first spire wall that had flipped over fell back to the ground, as if issuing a command. The rest of the spire walls flipped over and landed like dominoes, running from No. 1 Tianhai Street all the way around No. 100 Tianhai Street, and then quickly connected end to end.
The instant the inverted spire wall took shape, a dazzling array of magical energy visibly burst forth, like a curtain covering the skyline of the entire city of Lundia. This surging torrent obscured everyone's view until it finally swept over the entire city of Lundia, forming a protective shield resembling a cloud of magic.
The next second, the scattered dark divine power was horrified to find that the mage towers it had been roaming through had all lit up. They were originally relieved that no one was chasing them, but they couldn't understand how the magic net that they had cut into pieces could be instantly reassembled and stand in the city again with a strength many times greater than before, coldly looking down on them from the distant clouds.
"Are those mages going to catch up using the magic network?"
As the dark divine power was thinking this, it suddenly felt its body flatten. Before it could figure out what was happening, it turned into a wisp of green smoke under the pressure of the magic net and disappeared silently.
"The Magic Network has never been just a tool."
Rickman sensed the magic net, now powerful and heavy again, and his body trembled involuntarily. He thought to himself with mixed feelings:
"The existence of the magic network is the very power of the gods... Your Majesty, do we truly have a chance of victory?"
……
……
"Please allow me to hold you, Your Highness."
Jennifer, glowing brightly, chased after the raggedly dressed Latis, calling out with a grin:
"That's so indecent! You'll expose yourself!"
"It's all your fault for this wardrobe malfunction, Jennifer!" Latis screamed as the light on Jennifer's body once again illuminated his bare pectoral muscles, and quickened his pace.
"I see it! There it is!" Jennifer's eyes flashed as she looked at a wisp of black smoke that had just passed through the curtains. A beam of laser light shot from her eyes, instantly shattering the smoke.
"Damn it!" The thief in the tight-fitting clothes spat out a mouthful of blood, rolled over to dodge Latis's massive buttocks landing on him, and stood up, panting heavily, saying hoarsely:
"This time I've really messed up, but if one of me falls, there are thousands upon thousands more... Ugh!"
He looked incredulously at Latis, who had punched him in the stomach, spat out a mouthful of bile, collapsed weakly to the ground, and asked feebly:
"Why, why..."
"Your two accomplices before you detonated themselves after giving their last words. It's not that easy," Latis laughed, pulling a shard of chandelier from the newly cracked window. With a flick of his wrist, he severed the thief's neck, grinning broadly as he watched the thief's incredulous gaze.
"Anyway, you may have heard of it, or it doesn't matter if you haven't, but the dead can talk too!"
Behind the curtains, where no one was around, Latis, to Jennifer's astonishment, donned the title "Soul's Abode" and then summoned the thief's soul.
"I am at your service, my master..."
The translucent thief said with a numb expression.
"Who are you? What are you doing here? Who sent you?" Latis asked three questions without any politeness.
"I am Sean, the Thief Mentor of the Adventurers' Guild, Rendop State, United Nations of Yanium... the City of Tears..."
"I have come here... to destroy the foundations of the three great academies, to disrupt the formation of the magic network squad, and to spread the faith of my god..."
"My god's prophecy...My god's name is...the God of Shadows!"
After saying this, countless black mists suddenly surged from the thief's soul, and his face showed extreme fear. Then, with a miserable scream, his soul was enveloped by the black mist and turned into nothingness.
"Absorbed by that so-called god? The God of Shadows, that sounds like a complete idiot..."
After silently cursing to himself, Latis suddenly paused, feeling the sudden surge of magical energy in the air, and scratched his head:
"The magic network is back? Judging by the even higher concentration of magic energy, I guess the headmasters have been secretly stirring things up... Hmm, anyway, it seems this dance party will have to end rather haphazardly like this. Although, judging by how the students instinctively formed lines in the emergency, this kind of accident doesn't seem like such a bad thing after all..."
“Hey.” Jennifer held out her hand and waved it in front of Latis’s eyes, saying with displeasure:
"Is that all you care about?"
"Uh... what else?" Latis asked, puzzled.
"Let's not even talk about how many things about you I don't know..." Jennifer, who was radiating light, suddenly paused before awkwardly saying, her face slightly flushed:
"I rushed back to see you! You didn't even say hello to me!"
"Oh~ I see."
Latis stroked his chin, scrutinized the dazzling Jennifer from head to toe, and, seeing her increasingly uneasy gaze, suddenly grinned, extending his hand and saying:
"Little knight, will you dance with me?"
"Huh, huh?" Jennifer was caught off guard when Latis grabbed her hand, and with incredible force, she stopped herself from instinctively taking a step back, asking blankly:
"You, what are you talking about?"
Latis glanced back at the ballroom, which was still dark but had been slightly illuminated by the students' light-up spells, and said with a chuckle:
"Although there are no spotlights or magical floating lights to create an atmosphere now, dancing with you doesn't necessarily have to be done under spotlights, right?"
He looked at Jennifer, whose face was unusually flushed in the light, grabbed her hand, and led her straight to the dance floor, saying loudly:
