Chapter 60: I've decided to break up with your nephew!
Chapter 60: I've decided to break up with your nephew!
"Harry...Harry...Harry?!"
Harry woke up with a start and found himself asleep on the conference room table.
The other members of the board of directors are positioned on each side of the desktop.
Donald McCann, sitting to his left, was calling his name in a low voice.
Harry stretched, squinted, and said sleepily, "Okay...where were we?"
"..."
Macken took a deep breath, extremely displeased with Harry's behavior.
This is not the behavior expected of a competent leader.
At least in his view, Harry Osborn was no match for his father, Norman Osborn.
McCann said, "You know, we just had the Lizard Man incident a while ago, and now you've revealed your identity and named yourself... Iron Man."
Iron Man.
Let him go.
This name doesn't suit Osborn at all!
"You need to understand, Harry, Osborn is currently in a precarious situation. You should reasonably deflect blame from those unstable factors..."
Harry rolled his eyes and leaned back lazily in his chair.
"Yes, I know, of course I know that."
"Isn't this just the classic Osborn approach?"
Harry sneered, "Get rid of everything in the way, whether it's people or things."
"You should be glad that scientist Adrian Tooms came to me instead of you, McCann."
McCann didn't know much about the guy Harry mentioned.
All he knew was that this little old man named Adrian had been kicked out of the Osborne Group by Norman like a dog a long time ago.
Now Harry has brought him back, offering him a high-paying job as if he were some important figure.
"Speaking of Adrian Tooms, I think you might be overestimating him. There's no reason for him to receive the same treatment as Dr. Octavius..."
"Shut up."
Harry gave him a look of disgust.
"Harry..."
"Don't call me Harry. I've said it many times, we're not friends. Harry is not someone you can call me," Harry said calmly.
Suppressing his anger, McCann replied softly, "I understand, Mr. Osborne."
"very good."
Harry snapped his fingers, seemingly particularly pleased with Macken's reaction.
His gaze swept over everyone in the conference room.
Then he said, "I know what you're all thinking."
Harry rested his cheek on his hand, completely unconcerned about the stares of the people around him.
"A kid who's not even twenty years old is running a company worth two hundred billion dollars... What is Norman Osborn thinking?"
"Oh, I saw the look in your eyes. Don't play the victim in front of me. I know that's what you're all thinking."
Harry leaned forward, looking rather puzzled, his hands resting on the table, his thumbs twirling back and forth.
"You all must know about the law, right? Or do you all have elite lawyers around you?"
"There must have been questions about whether my father was mentally sound before he died, right?"
Harry glanced at Macken.
Macken hesitated, but was interrupted by Harry again.
"Shut up if I didn't tell you to."
"..."
"Surely someone has questioned the validity of the will, right? Hiring a whole bunch of lawyers to find loopholes in the will, searching for the most minute, impossible flaws between every line of text. Good heavens, just imagining that scene makes me feel sorry for you."
In the end, Harry simply called out names.
Everyone else present knew who the young boss was talking about.
McCann knew that too.
Harry stood up, his gaze sharp as a knife, slicing across each board member.
"I'm not asking you to do anything, at least don't interfere with me. You just need to understand one thing, and that is—"
"I am Osborn, and none of you are."
The meeting room was as quiet as ice; no one spoke, choosing to accept the fact as if the ice were melting.
Harry nodded; the outcome was as expected.
Even the usually most troublesome McCann didn't dare to look up at him.
"Very good, you've managed to keep your jobs for now."
"Meeting adjourned, everyone. Have a wonderful Halloween night."
Harry dusted himself off and walked away with a flourish.
The board members were left sitting in the meeting room, looking at each other.
"To be honest, there was a moment when I saw a bit of Norman in him."
"That temper tantrum is quite similar... hahaha..."
"So why didn't you tell him, Donald, that the criminals' technology this morning came from Osborn?"
Upon hearing this, McCann glanced at the man.
He will find out.
......
......
......
It was afternoon.
The Parker family.
Gwen arrived at Peter's door and was about to knock when she saw the door open automatically.
Okay, it wasn't automatic; someone else turned it on.
The person who opened the door was Peter's elder, Aunt May.
Gwen panicked considerably; in a sense, this could be considered meeting the parents.
Good afternoon, Ms. Mei.
"Please, why are you being so formal with me?"
Aunt May smiled and pulled Gwen inside, then was surprised to see her outfit.
"How come I didn't know New York City had a new Spider-Woman?"
It turns out it's because it's Halloween today.
Gwen was dressed in a black and white spider costume, and her appearance was almost identical to the design sketches provided by Oz.
This idea suddenly popped into Gwen's head while she was making Peter's new battle suit.
Making one for myself seems like a good idea.
Besides, she thought the outfit looked really good.
"So, will I get a few candies dressed like this?" Gwen chuckled, casually grabbing Aunt May's arm.
"You can have as much as you want, girl."
Aunt May smiled, quite pleased with Peter as her girlfriend.
Then she called out to the living room on the second floor.
"P, your spider girlfriend is here to see you."
There was a few seconds of silence upstairs, then a crow cawed.
"Huh?!"
From Gwen's perspective, Oz came running out like a big black goose.
Then he stared blankly at himself.
"That scared the hell out of me! I thought it was someone else, but it's just cosplay!"
Gwen glared at him: "Aren't you the same?!"
Oz wore a small black hood with pointed ears on either side of his head. His original red eyes were replaced with a white veil, and the feathers on his chest were specially dyed with a yellow bat logo with a black mark. He also wore a jet-black cloak on his back.
"How dare you talk to Batman like that?! I'll get Robin to beat you up!"
As soon as Oz finished speaking, Gwen saw her boyfriend come out wearing a dark yellow cloak, a green eye patch, and an "R" on his chest.
Fortunately, Peter was wearing black pants instead of going bare-legged.
"Good afternoon, Gwen!" Peter greeted her with a smile.
"..."
Gwen silently watched the pair for several seconds.
Suddenly, he turned to Aunt Mei and said:
"I've decided to break up with your nephew."
「!?」
