Chapter 2260: Ascending (2)
Chapter 2260: Ascending (2)
The light that appeared in front of Percival didn’t take long to condense into a figure.
It seemed to be a human figure from the outline, but Percival couldn’t actually see any of the features of this figure.
The light that condensed didn’t fade away and seemed to wrap around the figure.
It wrapped around the figure in such a way that it completely blocked Percival from seeing even a single inch of that figure’s true form.
However, Percival didn’t mind this at all.
After all, this was what a god should look like in his mind.
It made him believe even more that this was the god that he served.
Once the figure had fully condensed, Percival lowered his head towards that figure of light and said, "Your holiness, thank you for coming at my time of need."
The figure of light didn’t say anything even though Percival was pouring his heart out to it, but Percival didn’t mind at all. With all of the signs that were in front of him, he was already convinced that this was his god.
If this god didn’t have anything to say, then it didn’t have anything to say to him.
But then all of a sudden, the god said, "You are dead, but at the same time...you are not."
Percival’s face filled with a strange confused look since he had no idea what this god was saying. After all, these words didn’t seem to make any sense in his mind at all.
With a sigh, the god said, "Becoming a hero has changed you to a certain extent, I’m sure that you were already aware of this."
Percival slowly nodded in agreement.
After all, it was a fact that he had lived far longer than a human should have lived.
Even if he wanted to deny this, it wasn’t as if there was anything that he could say to deny this.
Not to mention that the god in front of him should already know everything that there is to know since they were the one that bestowed him that power in the first place.
It was just that Percival was still confused what the god meant by all of this.
The god didn’t seem to be in a hurry to answer as it just looked at Percival without saying a word.
Even though Percival looked like he wanted an answer, it didn’t seem like the god cared at all with the way that it silently stood there.
After a while, the god finally said, "You’ve become something that’s halfway to becoming a god."
"A god? Me?" Shock flooded Percival’s face when he heard this.
This was honestly the last thing that he had been expecting to hear since he was just a normal human, he never thought that he would ever come close to reaching the realm of gods.
As he was shocked, he couldn’t help feeling that there was something strange about the way that the god looked at him.
Percival wasn’t certain, but it almost felt like the god was looking at him with sympathy. It was almost as if the god understood what he was feeling, but that didn’t make any sense at all.
After all, this god had been with humanity all this time.
How could a natural born god know what it felt for a human to be told that he was on the path to become a god.
"But what do you mean by half a god?" Percival asked when he finally calmed down.
The god gave a nod as if it had already been expecting this question from him before saying, "You haven’t completely ascended to becoming a god. Because of everything that you’ve done, the faith that you’ve received from the people of this world has elevated you to a position that is like...a local deity."
Percival couldn’t help revealing a strange look at the end of this.
The way that the god had finished its words had been a bit strange.
"Then what happens now?" That was what Percival cared about the most.
"Now that you’re half a god, there are two paths for you. The first is to ascend and become a complete god. To do that, you have to gather faith and gain more divine energy. Once you have gathered enough divine energy, you’ll be able to become a god."
"What is the other option?" Percival slowly asked after a moment of silence.
"The other option is to live out your lifespan as a demigod." The god said with a shrug.
"Demigods have lifespans?" Percival couldn’t help feeling shocked once more.
The god just gave a simple nod as it said, "You’re not immortal just because you’re a demigod. Only when you become a god can you sustain yourself with divine energy alone. A demigod still relies on faith to gather divine energy, so if you don’t have any faith, then you’ll be forgotten and will run out of divine energy."
"You’ll be forgotten?"
The god just gave another simple nod to confirm this.
The expression on Percival’s face slowly changed as different emotions filled him.
However, it didn’t seem like this was a bad thing as he was slowly thinking things through.
There was a reason that he had been able to hold the position of pope all those years. It wasn’t as if he had only held that position because of the power that he possessed, he was also able to use his brain to help him solve all the different problems that he encountered.
"Is there a way for me to interact with the world below?"
The god just pointed down as if it was a natural thing.
An awkward look appeared on Percival’s face when he saw this.
After all, he already knew the answer to this question because of what he had done earlier.
He had already created a miracle when he shouldn’t have created that miracle.
It had been so embarrassing that he had completely wiped it from his mind.
