Chapter 3 Mushroom House Rules
Chapter 3 Mushroom House Rules
Li Jiu was terrified. Before he could even speak, he saw Tang Mubai reach out and swipe the camp's access card.
"drop!"
The access control light flashed green, and the door opened immediately.
The girl suppressed her frenzied expression, trying her best to act like a normal person, and slowly walked past Tang Mubai toward the interior of the camp.
Tang Mubai tucked his hands into his pockets and approached the girl, his face full of ingratiation.
Not far away, Yin Qixu's gaze behind his glasses suddenly sharpened. Just as he was about to step over, Li Jiu preemptively struck.
He secretly stuck out his foot and tripped Tang Mubai.
Tang Mubai's attention was entirely on the girl, and when Li Jiu tripped him, he instantly lost his balance.
"Ouch—!"
Tang Mubai let out a loud shout, his entire center of gravity leaning forward, but he still managed to stabilize himself by relying on his powerful core. However, Li Jiu quickly added fuel to the fire by gently bumping into him.
Using the opponent's force against him, Tang Mubai couldn't stop his momentum at all. He was like an out-of-control weight, crashing solidly forward. A heavy, iron-like shoulder strike sent the girl flying.
After being hit, the girl groaned and fell down the steps of the campsite, rolling into the darkness with a rustling sound before disappearing into the roadside bushes.
"Classmate?!" Tang Mubai steadied himself and hurriedly looked into the darkness, his face full of regret. "Are you alright? I'm so sorry, I lost my balance just now—"
"Go in quickly." Li Jiu said in a low voice, pushing him forward without saying another word.
"Li Jiu, why did you trip me just now! I almost—" Tang Mubai was pushed by him, constantly looking back at the dark bushes, heartbroken, "My only chance at love this year!"
Li Jiu urged Tang Mubai as he pushed him into the Mushroom House.
Even after entering the camp, Tang Mubai was still lingering in the grass where the girl had rolled away.
Li Jiu felt a chill run down his spine. He could sense that the girl hadn't gone far, and was even likely still hiding in the bushes, waiting for an opportunity to strike. Her sinister gaze made him feel like he was being pricked by thorns.
He quickly swiped his card to enter the camp.
From the haystack, a face slowly emerged from among the withered leaves, its pale skin gleaming faintly in the darkness. The girl indeed slowly popped her head out again, stretching her neck and staring intently at the light from the mushroom house so close at hand, making very soft, hoarse sounds in her throat.
She wanted to get closer to the Mushroom House, but seemed to sense something and looked in a certain direction.
Under the lights at the camp entrance, Yin Qixu, dressed in a secretary's uniform, stood quietly, her eyes gleaming with golden light in the dim light.
She had no expression; she was just staring at the bushes.
A silent, oppressive force swept over us like a tidal wave.
The girl looked somewhat frightened, and slowly withdrew her long, outstretched head.
A rapid rustling sound came from the withered leaves, then silence.
Yin Qixu gently pushed up the frame of her glasses with her slender middle finger, and somehow her eyes behind the lenses returned to their brown color.
After she withdrew her gaze, she looked at the spot where Li Jiu had been standing, her beautiful eyes narrowing imperceptibly.
"..."
……
No sooner had Li Jiu stepped into the camp than Tang Mubai clung to him, his face full of annoyance as he lowered his voice:
"What can I say, bro? You've ruined my chance at marriage!"
"I think I've ruined more than just 'marriage'," Li Jiu glanced at him.
"Right! You've realized she's interested in me, haven't you? Otherwise, why wouldn't she ask to borrow your card?"
"Hehe, I don't need to be Yan Chixia." Li Jiu shook off Tang Mubai's hand and walked straight inside.
From the outside, the Mushroom House looks like a giant mushroom, but inside it is a very exquisitely decorated resort hotel.
There was a huge notice board in the hotel lobby, and their companions walking ahead of them were all looking at it.
The notice board displayed the rules of Mushroom House, which Li Jiu naturally read again:

The entire staff of Mushroom House wishes you a pleasant holiday.
As Li Jiu read the Mushroom House Rules, his mind seemed to conjure up scenarios for each rule out of thin air, but no matter how he tried to understand them, he couldn't grasp the logic behind them.
The room was checked before check-in and there were no problems, so why was the watermelon the only thing they checked?
Is it to prevent some strange thing from breaking into the room?
And this thing... has slime, and likes to steal watermelons?
What kind of twisted sense of humor is this?
Li Jiu's thoughts suddenly paused.
Not right.
If the goal is simply to prevent melon thieves, why go to such lengths to include it in the rules and require room service to be contacted for a room change?
Unless... that thing simply cannot be driven away by ordinary means!
What sent a chill down Li Jiu’s spine was that these rules were independent of each other and pointed to completely different “situations”.
Could it be that there's more than one strange thing lurking in this mushroom house?
