After taking the second Power Pill, Lu Wei, whose internal strength had reached a certain level, could roughly tell how strong the person in front of him was. Having sat in the same carriage as Zhou Wen for many days, he could naturally tell the other party's condition.
"Based on the information gathered by Shan Yu Mu Ye, it seems that Xu Sheng and Zhou Wen are hiding something from everyone."
Lu Wei's eyes gradually sharpened, but he did not intend to reveal or verify the truth of some of his guesses: just as he had said before, as long as it did not harm himself, other people's secrets were fine as they were.
------
The group continued their journey peacefully for several more days without incident.
Just as expected before setting off, their large caravan, bearing the banner of Luqiu Pavilion, was unlikely to be robbed by many mountain forces.
However, nothing is certain, and just as they were about to enter a valley, what was bound to happen still happened.
A dozen or so neatly dressed bandits stood in a row, blocking the middle of the road.
For the first time, the caravan stopped outside of its rest period.
"Manager Lu, Manager Zhou, how should we handle this?"
A disciple approached the carriage and asked for instructions from inside.
"Send someone to negotiate and see what the other party means."
Zhou Wen opened his eyes but did not intend to speak. He had gone out to patrol these days, but he had not strayed too far from the main force. In principle, this was dereliction of duty, but Lu Wei, who was of the same rank as him, did not report it to the young master, and the ordinary disciples were even less willing to report it.
The suggestion to handle the situation came from Lu Wei, who had jumped onto the roof of the carriage to watch the commotion.
"Yes!" Upon receiving the order, the disciple rode forward on his horse.
But less than a minute later, he returned with an angry look on his face:
"Manager Lu, these bandits say: either we leave half of the goods behind, or they come and take everything themselves..."
"Quite the boast, which faction's thieves are they?"
Touching his chin, Lu Wei showed no anger whatsoever; in fact, he laughed.
"They are not the original owners of this place. They must be newcomers from somewhere else and do not know the prestige of our Luqiu Pavilion."
The disciple responded.
"I'm afraid not." Lu Wei exchanged a glance with the leader of the gang of thieves from afar, and a sense of vigilance immediately arose in his heart: Judging from his aura, he was no ordinary person.
His smile widened, and he waved for the disciple to return to his post, then summoned Shan Yumuye:
"Haven't you always wanted to test your abilities? Here's your chance!"
"Leave it to us, Brother Lu!"
Lu Yu readily agreed and happily rode off from the caravan first, followed closely by Lu Mu and Lu Ye. As usual, Lu Shan remained at the back.
“These thieves are an anomaly outside the map markings.” Zhou Wen also came to the top of the carriage, looked at the thieves’ formation, and said, “They don’t seem to be from Yan, nor are they from Qi.”
"Are we the target?" Lu Wei raised an eyebrow, gazing towards the valley, without asking Zhou Wen how he visually determined the nationality of the thieves.
After the Leaf Village sent out its troops, the opposing side also sent out four people to fight back, without using numbers to bully the weak.
“They’re just the vanguard,” Zhou Wen looked up at the valley above and around. “They’re here as bait to probe our strength. There are definitely more experts lurking in the shadows, ready to take the intelligence back.”
The Mountain Rain Leaf Clan was trained by Lu Wei. Although they had only been practicing martial arts for a short time, they had learned several purple-level techniques, and at the very least, blue-level ones. In terms of skill configuration, even Xu Sheng was probably not as good as the four of them.
However, the other side was no pushover either. Most of the bandits were around thirty or forty years old, in their prime, and had extensive experience in fighting. They were able to overpower the four younger brothers.
However, it won't be easy for these people to defeat Yamayu no Konoha in a short period of time.
As the effects of the Rejuvenation Technique, a time-delaying technique, become apparent, their side will undoubtedly grow stronger with each battle! Therefore, Lu Wei is not worried about them at all.
"You're being a bit too kind to them. How can you just casually pass on your precious cultivation techniques?"
Zhou Wen frowned slightly, then quickly relaxed, shaking his head in bewilderment.
"I'm confident I can learn faster than anyone else, so what can't I teach?" Lu Wei seemed unconcerned and slightly disdainful of Zhou Wen's words.
This made Zhou Wen extremely uncomfortable, and he couldn't help but speak up to try and regain his composure: "Since you're so generous, why don't you pass on some of your martial arts skills to me?"
"Of course!" To everyone's surprise, Lu Wei nodded without refutation.
"Are you serious?" Zhou Wen could hardly believe his ears.
"I never lie!" Lu Wei, the righteous gentleman, smiled lightly and said frankly, "Lu Shan, Lu Yu, Lu Mu, and Lu Ye are my brothers. After they learned my kung fu, they also showed their loyalty to me."
"I'll tell you anything as long as you're willing to pay the price!"
Chapter 15 Killing
On the battlefield in the valley, Lu Mu was the first to break through the enemy's defenses.
The bandit he fought had a huge scar on his face that stretched from his left ear to the corner of his mouth, making him look fierce and menacing.
He wielded a broadsword, each strike as powerful as a wolf's or a jackal's.
Fortunately, the Butterfly Sword Technique excels at using skill to overcome strength, and the four younger brothers of Shanyu Muye were taught a lot of basic swordsmanship knowledge by Xu Sheng last month. At least they weren't just doing random research on their own, and they can be considered to have a prestigious background.
By flipping his wrist to manipulate the sword tip and using light footwork, he could barely hold his own against the enemy.
The situations faced by the other three were slightly different due to their different opponents, but the overall situation was similar.
To Lu Wei's surprise, he realized that Lu Mu was deliberately feigning weakness, which put him in grave danger!
This puzzled him. He had taught all four of them their skills, and deliberately putting himself in danger required a sure-fire kill move. But Lu Mu didn't seem to have any hidden martial arts techniques that he didn't know about...
The Soul-Sweeping Skill is unique, and he rarely uses it himself, so he never taught it to the four of them.
"Hey kid, you're out of energy?"
The scarred bandit used a New Year's greeting knife technique, forcing Lu Mu to parry with his sword. Seeing the opponent struggling to push the sword with both hands, he grinned and made a mocking sound.
"Are these your last words?"
Lu Mu was forced to bend his knees and stoop, but his eyes remained calm and stern.
"Kid, still talking big..." The thief laughed instead of getting angry. After all, he had the upper hand, and he could calmly and slowly cut the flesh off the person in front of him until he died!
"Hmph," Lu Mu snorted coldly when he saw him smile, and suddenly withdrew his horizontal sword from its blocking position, retreating swiftly backward.
Tear! The distance was too close. His lightness skill was far from exceeding the speed of the thief's knife. The vertical slash was unstoppable and cut straight from Lu Mu's shoulder to his abdomen, leaving him covered in blood!
The scarred thief lightly licked the blood that had splattered on his lips, and was about to utter another sarcastic remark when he saw Lu Mu, despite his injury, throw himself backward and point his sword at him...
So far away, and with his arm outstretched, he can't throw the flying sword. What is he doing?
This was the last thought that occurred to Scarface the Thief's mind.
Then, two copper nails shot out from both sides of Lu Mu's sword hilt with a whoosh!
"Ah!" The copper nail pierced the thief's neck. He cried out in pain, released his broadsword, covered his neck with his hand, and knelt on the ground, struggling desperately.
Lu Mu, after throwing himself backward to the ground, didn't even have time to feel the pain from his chest wound. He leaped forward with his right leg and appeared in front of the thief...
Decapitation doesn't require any fancy swordsmanship; a simple, gentle swing is enough...
A head fell to the ground.
Only then did the pain spread throughout his chest. Lu Mu knelt on one knee, blood flowing continuously since the injury began. He weakly used his sword to support his body.
This unexpected turn of events surprised everyone, whether it was the caravan, the thieves, or the other six people on the field!
With a few clangs, Shan Yuye quickly separated from her opponent, and the three retreated, standing in a row to protect Lu Mu behind them.
"Brother Mu, how are you!"
Lu Ye stared at the enemy, his words filled with worry.
"I'm fine," Lu Mu replied with difficulty, feeling dizzy from blood loss. "I won!"
The remaining thieves, not having seen how their companion died, huddled together and turned to look at their leader behind them.
The bandit leader clenched his fists tightly, his arms crossed. He glanced instinctively in the direction of the caravan, only to find the boy standing on the roof of their wagon also looking at him...
"This time, Gonggong Hall has sent out its best and brightest; even four children they randomly dispatched possess considerable martial prowess."
The thief leader pondered, "And that longsword that can shoot projectiles—it must be based on mechanical principles. The caravan probably has even more powerful mechanical weapons hidden inside..."
"We've gathered enough information from this probe, and we even lost Lao Ba's life. We can retreat now!"
Thinking of this, he gave his assistant a look, who understood immediately, took out a small ox horn, and blew out the order to retreat.
The three thieves on the battlefield breathed a sigh of relief. Although robbing was their job and hobby, they would never have robbed a farmers' caravan unless they were forced to.
Shan Yuye had no intention of pursuing them. Seeing that the enemy was about to retreat, Shan Yuye sheathed his sword, supported Lu Mu, and with Lu Yu protecting him, prepared to return to the caravan for treatment.
Just as they turned around, they saw that their brother Lu had quietly appeared in front of them.
"Boss..." Lu Mu began weakly, but Lu Wei shook his head and stopped him.
Lu Wei took out a pill and put it into Lu Mu's mouth. He wasn't in a hurry to ask about the hidden weapon sword. He told his four younger brothers to go back to the main force first.
He then crossed the battlefield and headed straight for the thieves!
"How dare you!"
When the leader of the thieves saw that the other party had crossed the line, he hurriedly rushed up as well.
But it was too late!
The three retreating thieves, dragging their dead brother's body and head, were wondering why their eldest brother was coming towards them when they felt a slight stinging pain in their necks.
Then, I couldn't feel anything anymore...
"asshole!"
Watching his brother beheaded from behind by Lu Wei, the thief's arm veins bulged as he threw a punch with eyes wide open in fury!
After killing three people, Lu Wei remained standing, facing the approaching enemy. He extended his left hand with an icy palm, dissolving the force of the opponent's fist. Unseen by everyone else, he stared at his enraged foe and suddenly unleashed his Soul-Shattering Technique...
The emotionally unstable thief was momentarily dazed, his mind blank. A few breaths later, his anger turned to terror as he saw Lu Wei's right hand slash the fine iron sword across his neck...
The ball rolled a few times, and the fifth head of the day landed!
Next, Lu Wei pressed his advantage, charging towards the remaining, stunned bandits, and a massacre unfolded before the entire caravan...
"Brother Lu..."
The fourth brother was even more excited than when he had fought his boss himself. The injured Lu Mu was the most emotional, seeing Lu Wei avenging him!
The entire vanguard caravan gasped in surprise. They were naturally delighted to see their commander possess such high martial arts skills and was willing to help them wipe out the enemy!
