Chapter 137 Playing with Clay

Chapter 137 Playing with Clay

The Chunin Exams began as scheduled the next day.

Countless genin were waiting in an open space. Uchiha Ye, standing on a large tree, roughly estimated the number of people to be around four or five hundred. "That's quite a lot!"

"Itachi, as the clan leader's son, do you have any inside information?" She turned to Itachi, who was standing to the side, and asked.

Itachi shook his head. "The Chunin Exams, jointly organized by the five great nations, are the first of their kind in history. There's no information we can draw upon."

Uchiha Ye was not surprised at all by these words.

She looked ahead and thought, "It seems like they're starting to enter."

"Judging from the setup, it seems like each squad member will be separated."

"Yamato, Itachi, if you're not in the same exam room, think about how to pass messages between each other."

"Let's go over there!"

The three of them jumped down from the tree and walked towards the drawing of lots.

Their appearance attracted a lot of attention. The two looked to be only about ten years old. The boy looked handsome and gentle, while the girl, although not fully grown up, was already more beautiful than anyone else present and could not be ignored. The flame mark between her eyebrows was particularly impressive. The other one was relatively normal, a fifteen or sixteen-year-old boy with nothing particularly unusual about him.

Soon, people noticed the clan crest on the back of their clothes and the headbands they wore, making their identities immediately obvious. They were probably the two Uchiha geniuses who had recently become famous.

Despite hearing many people talking about them, the three of them didn't show any change in expression, demonstrating a level of composure far exceeding that of many others present.

"Yamato, some people say you're nothing special, but I'm very optimistic that you'll shine brightly and dazzle them in this Chunin Exams," Uchiha Ye said in a lighthearted, teasing tone.

"I'm not really interested in this kind of thing, but I'll go all out when I meet an opponent," Yamato said, clenching his fist.

"It's our turn!" Itachi reminded them and walked towards the drawing area. The two of them followed without saying a word.

“1…Itachi.”

"2...Yamato."

“3…Leaf”.

"I'm going up first." Uchiha Ye put the skewer back and headed to the third floor according to the instructions.

Itachi and Yamato each headed towards the floor corresponding to their lot.

Uchiha Ha pushed open the door to the exam classroom on the third floor, where there were already quite a few people.

Her appearance silenced the noisy exam hall for a few seconds. Uchiha Ye calmly found a seat by the window and sat down, enjoying the scenery outside, even though there wasn't much to see.

As she walked over, she saw many Jonin disguised as Genin taking the exam, as well as Utakata, the Six-Tails Jinchuriki.

"drink!"

An explosion brought her back to her senses.

She turned her head to look to the side and saw the sound of an explosion made by a boy with blond hair tied up high, and the word "drink" that he always said when detonating an explosion.

Are you Deidara?

Deidara looked over at the sound, his hands instantly stopping as he sculpted the clay. "This girl is so beautiful, her eyes are so big and watery, it's impossible not to be captivated by them."

"She looks only a year older than him."

Deidara blushed inexplicably and stammered, "I am...Deidara, have you...heard of me?"

"I guess so!" Uchiha Ye nodded.

Deidara was overjoyed upon hearing this, "So you also think that art is an explosion?"

"Uh...no, I just wanted to remind you that if you make an explosion, you'll probably be kicked out and disqualified from the exam," she said earnestly.

"Oh, I see!" Deidara was instantly disappointed; he had thought he had found a like-minded person.

Uchiha Ye was quite curious about the clay explosion, and looking at him playing with the clay in his hands, she asked, "Can I borrow the clay in your hand to play with for a bit?"

"What a gentle voice." Deidara instantly perked up and stuffed the clay in his hand into hers. "These little hands are so soft!" he thought to himself.

Uchiha Yoh played with it for a while but still couldn't shape it. He humbly asked for help, "Deidara... can you teach me how to shape it?"

"Okay." Deidara readily agreed and moved closer to her.

He took out a lump of clay and taught him how to sculpt it step by step. Uchiha Ye was very interested and listened attentively, asking questions whenever he had any doubts.

A moment later, Deidara sculpted a spider and placed it on the table.

"You're amazing." Uchiha Ye praised Deidara without reservation, which made Deidara feel very accomplished.

He looked at the girl in front of him and said, "Why don't you give it a try?"

Uchiha Ye hummed in agreement, then turned around and focused intently on the clay in his hands.

Deidara thought she would sculpt a spider like he did, but he soon realized that it wasn't a spider; it looked like she had sculpted a person.

He wanted to suggest that she start with something simple, but seeing how serious she was, he didn't want to interrupt.

With a 'bang,' the door to the examination room suddenly slammed shut.

Inside the examination hall, the ninjas began to discuss the matter, some even running to bang on the door, but there was no response.

Uchiha Yoh was completely unaffected and continued his work without stopping.

Not long after, the television in the classroom flickered and displayed an image: "I am Nara Shikaku, the examiner for the first round of the Chunin Selection Exams."

"Please take an exam paper from the desk at the front of the class and find a seat wherever you like."

Soon, someone took the lead and went up to get the exam papers, muttering, "Great, just like always."

Uchiha Ye heard the sound, glanced up, and then continued to focus on the clay in his hands.

She didn't stop until two-thirds of the candidates had received their exam papers.

"Here you go!" She turned around and looked at Deidara, handing him a clay doll that, upon closer inspection, actually resembled Deidara quite a bit.

Deidara stared in disbelief, "This...this..."

"She must have just learned clay modeling!"

"How can you sculpt it so well?" This was a huge blow to his confidence.

"Don't you like it?" Uchiha Ye asked, then explained, "Sorry, I don't really like spiders, so..."

Deidara felt even more heartbroken upon hearing her explanation, but he said aloud, "I really like it, I'll keep it."

"That's good. I'll go upstairs to get the exam papers." Uchiha Ye said, stood up and walked towards the teacher's desk, with Dicarola putting away the doll and following behind her.

Five minutes later, examiner Nara Shikaku announced the examination rules.

"So familiar with the rules, no wonder he's Shikamaru's father, just like him." Uchiha Ye thought to himself.

"It's just unclear whether someone will step forward to warn us this time, like Neji did."

"Anyway, she won't do it."

Uchiha Yoh wrote her name on the test paper and turned it over. She decided that Yamato and Itachi would only need to answer the third question, which was worth fifty points.

"Keep sculpting the clay. It's still early, so they're probably all discussing it. I'll pass on the message to them later."
