Chapter 43: The truth comes out, the pretense is over.
"Chief."
Steve burst into Fury's office and handed him the tablet: "The Security Council is putting a lot of pressure on us, and it looks like they're planning to take action."
Fury looked at Steve in front of him and sighed, "Calm down, Captain. They're putting pressure on us. With what? Public opinion? Or morality?"
Steve didn't speak; the order the Holy Lord gave him was simply to rush into the office and seduce Fury.
Fury spread his arms: "Nothing matters. The most important thing in applying pressure is force. Applying pressure without power is just self-indulgence."
Fury had barely finished speaking when he received a notification from the military.
The Security Council meeting will resume in one hour, and Director Fury is required to attend.
Fury glanced at the stack of papers and curled his lip. "Looks like they still haven't grasped reality."
"Call Valon over. I need to deliver the final blow to those old fogies in the military," Fury instructed Steve.
In a small room, Fury sat in a chair, facing Ross and his generals.
"Is this what you call a meeting?" Fury's tone was devoid of any emotion.
Ross didn't answer. Once everyone was there, he pulled out a pistol from behind his back and pressed it directly against Fury's forehead: "Now, I'll ask questions, and you answer."
Fury waved his hand: "Don't be nervous, my general. Why are you making things so tense right from the start?"
Ross ignored Fury's teasing: "How did you manage to hack into military systems? It's impossible for S.H.I.E.L.D., with its master switch, to do that."
Fury didn't answer, still looking at her with a mocking expression.
"You don't have much time," Ross said coldly.
The projector in the room was turned on, displaying a list of Security Council members condemning Fury.
"Public opinion is on our side," Ross continued. "I don't have much patience."
Fury waved his hand, and the Holy Lord behind him gestured. A few seconds later, Ross's face turned ashen. He had received news from the military that two missile bases were currently bombing each other.
"You have no military force, so why do you think you can suppress me with public opinion?"
While Ross was distracted, Fury snatched the weapon from his hand.
"You now have only two choices: submit to me, or die."
Fury's voice was calm, but to these generals it was like a bomb exploding.
The room fell into a deathly silence.
A sudden communication tone rang out, followed by the Holy Lord's shocked voice: "What did you say? How is this possible?!"
Fury looked at the serious-faced Holy Lord and his expression also darkened. How could he let something go wrong in this situation?
The Holy Lord whispered a few words in Fury's ear, and Fury's face immediately turned so dark it seemed to drip water.
Meanwhile, Ross also received a call from Fury: "Fury, now you know what's going on, right? You don't really think we're just going to use public opinion to suppress you, do you?"
Fury dialed Natasha's number: "What happened? Wasn't the entire security system at SHIELD replaced? How could Tony have done that?"
Natasha's voice came from the other end of the phone: "It's Tony's device from yesterday. He tampered with it, and now the energy system within S.H.I.E.L.D. is completely paralyzed and cannot be restored in the short term."
Fury hung up the phone and composed himself: "It's just internal energy. In the end, those agents are just ordinary people. What I want to do next is the same whether they're there or not."
Fury turned to the Holy Lord and said, "Destroy the military's energy system."
The Holy Lord gestured a few times in the air, and Fury looked confidently at the generals who were now shouting in front of him.
Nothing happened.
"What's going on!" Fury's tone became impatient.
The Holy Lord replied in a low voice, "I don't know what method they used, but I can only control half of the military weapons now, and all the important military locations are currently out of the missile's firing range."
"Useless trash!" Fury's expression completely spiraled out of control: "Tony! It must have been him!"
After yelling, Fury ordered, "Launch all the missiles you can control, including all military bases within range! And don't forget Stark Industries!"
Stark Industries, top floor.
"Sir, a large number of missiles have been detected heading this way. We recommend taking immediate action." Jarvis's voice echoed in the hall.
"Intercept all missiles heading this way; ignore the military's side."
Boom! Boom! Boom!
A deafening roar echoed about a kilometer away from Stark Industries.
A soldier rushed into the room, carrying a device that connected to the intelligence department.
Ross and the others in the room also learned of Tony's actions, and their faces darkened: "Damn it, I knew Tony wasn't a good person. Tony only protects his own assets!"
Saint Lord stood behind Fury, raised his head, and a slight smile appeared on his lips.
Before anyone at the scene could react, the Holy Lord walked to Fury's side.
"Useless! Is this your seat?! Go stand at the back!"
Fury, still furious, yelled at the Holy Lord, "This is none of your business!"
The Holy Lord's lips curled into a seductive smile as he slapped Fury across the forehead: "Useless trash, are you talking about me?"
Fury covered his forehead in disbelief: "You, you've gone too far! I order you to kneel down and admit your mistake right now!"
However, the scene Fury envisioned did not occur; the scene he expected of Valon being controlled by the Mind Stone did not happen.
"What's going on!" Fury roared.
Fury stared into the eyes of the Holy Lord, his body trembling uncontrollably. He saw the kingly disdain in the other's eyes, without a trace of pity.
"In another world, humans kneel at my feet, praying for favorable weather and abundant harvests; my name strikes fear into their hearts."
The Holy Lord's deep voice echoed in the room: "I'm giving you a little face, and you really think you're someone important."
The Holy Lord raised his hand, and a violent roar resounded in the distance. Screams echoed continuously from the communicator in Ross's hand.
"What's going on? You can only control half of it!" Fury exclaimed, hearing the commotion.
"Half? Are you stupid? You believe whatever I say?" The Holy Lord made no attempt to hide the amusement in his voice.
Fury recalled the report from his informant that Shendu had fought Tony.
"Tony is one of yours too! It was all a conspiracy between you and Tony!" Fury found it hard to believe his own suspicions.
"Tony?" Shendu smiled. "How did you know?"
"Damn it," Fury thought of the contract he had seen Shendu sign earlier, "Even the Mind Stone couldn't control you, who are you anyway?"
"You need to show your sincerity before asking about my identity."
The Holy Lord raised his hand, and a chair flew towards Fury's knees. Fury cried out in pain and knelt before the Holy Lord.
"You may call me Holy Lord."
