Chapter 70: Take us on one more charge, Professor!
Chapter 70: Take us on one more charge, Professor!
"We can only earn a little pocket money... The market is huge, but our ability to sell products is limited, Professor Delfino."
Fred said smugly.
Involuntarily, Professor Delfino nodded, staring somewhat dazedly at the pile of things on the ground.
"Yeah, yeah... I can imagine, they'd definitely be popular, right... Wherever there's a school, there'll be a mobile convenience store... Honestly, back when I was in school—oh, mainly because my body couldn't handle—couldn't keep up with all that... I mean!"
The three boys were straining to listen to Professor Delfino's mutterings when his expression suddenly changed... They all assumed Professor Delfino was going to reprimand them for their reckless behavior, so they straightened up immediately!
"These things—"
Professor Delfino pointed to the snacks and asked with great interest,
"Approximately how long will this supply last you?"
呃—
Fred, George, and Lee exchanged bewildered glances, unsure of what Professor Delfino was thinking.
"That depends on the situation—"
George Weasley said carefully,
"If it's a Saturday or Sunday, we can sell out in one night... On school days, it takes a bit longer, about two or three nights."
Tell me about it—
Ares seemed even more interested; he snapped his fingers, causing several stools to float up behind the three boys, and gestured for them to sit down.
"How did you all sell them?"
"Mainly relying on Professor Delfino's 'street-by-street' approach—"
A faint inspiration drifted through Fred's mind, but he didn't grasp it. He said to Professor Delfino,
"We have classes during the day, so it's inconvenient for us to move around, but at night... well, as you can probably tell, we know the castle very well, so it's not difficult for us to evade the patrolling prefects, professors, and Filch."
"We have some regular customers in all four colleges—"
George added.
"We offer door-to-door service—some students know they can get good stuff from us,"
Lee Jordan said with no small amount of pride,
"So they'll also come to us on their own initiative!"
Ares frowned.
The method of selling products by three boys is too inefficient.
What about the profit margin?
After thinking for a moment, Ares asked.
"We don't have much capital."
Fred felt the flashes of inspiration in his mind growing clearer; he was almost grasping them. He looked intently at Professor Delfino, whose expression was somewhat grave.
"The three of us combined only have a little over twenty Galleons. Each time we sell goods, we can probably earn seven or eight Galleons... but that's not certain."
"Nearly 30% net profit?"
hiss-
Ares blinked in surprise.
"That shouldn't be the case. If that were the case, your principal should have grown very quickly!"
"We can't go too often, Professor Delfino—"
George was starting to understand too. He exchanged a glance with Fred, then his eyes lit up as he looked at the professor.
"After all, schoolwork is not easy... We have to finish our assignments, otherwise we will be locked up, which will waste our precious time."
"We have indeed made some money—"
Fred hesitated for a moment before explaining,
"But we'll use the money we earn...to support a long-term, ambitious cause we have."
Ares knew what Fred was talking about, so he didn't ask further, but simply nodded silently and fell into thought.
The silence was rather long. When he came to his senses, the three boys seemed to have reached some kind of consensus during this time, and they stared at him with strange looks.
"Ahem... um, that's how it is—"
Ares straightened his posture, coughed twice with a loosely clenched fist to his lips, and did so in a serious manner.
"I must criticize you, gentlemen, yes, criticize..."
Ares kept a straight face.
"Your behavior is very inappropriate, um...aren't you students?"
The main task is naturally to study—spend your energy on making money... Well, of course, wanting some pocket money is understandable for kids your age.
However, frequently using secret passages to enter and exit the school at night is hardly a noble act worthy of support.
After he finished speaking, he fell into a dazed silence.
Fred, George, and Lee exchanged glances again, and smiles appeared on their lips.
"Hmm...Professor Delfino?"
Fred's shrewd eyes darted around as he cautiously probed,
"You—uh, we accept your criticism. It was wrong of us to sneak out...but we had no choice—Hogsmeade Open Days are too infrequent, and we can't bring back that many at once."
"If—uh, you'd like...you'd like to join our business?"
"Me? Join your business?"
Ares snapped out of his daze and frantically waved his hands.
"How can this be... Have you forgotten, Mr. Weasley? I am a professor! This behavior is utterly inappropriate!"
"There's nothing inappropriate about it, Professor!"
George, now certain of Professor Delfino's intentions, exclaimed joyfully.
"Join us, Professor Delfino... It's true that students' primary task is to study, but students also need to have fun!"
"That's right, Professor!"
Lee Jordan nodded seriously.
"Being confined to school all year round, doing only studying, is so boring!"
I've seen quite a few upperclassmen facing OWL exams become mentally unstable due to the pressure of studying... Professor, students really need a little fun... That's why our poop balls and candy sell so well!
Fred and George nodded very seriously, and Fred then said,
"And you can earn some extra money... Professor Delfino, your salary isn't too high, is it?"
"Oh, yes, that's right..."
Ares hesitated before speaking.
"His annual salary is only three thousand two hundred gallons... 300 gallons less than Professor Dumbledore's. But he's an old man, he doesn't have many expenses—while I'm in my prime...it's the age when I need to support my family..."
"Then let's do it together, Professor Delfino!"
George Weasley stood up, and spoke with great passion.
"With your joining us, we're sure our business will boom!"
"Oh...no—don't tempt me, Mr. Weasley, I'm a wizard of principle...I'm a professor, this...is inappropriate..."
Ares tightened the corners of his mouth.
"You are by no means the kind of boring, pedantic teacher, Professor Delfino!"
Fred also stood up and said urgently,
"You surely understand that students want their daily lives to be exciting and fulfilling, right—that's why you led the first-year students to fight against Dumbledore!"
"Oh, that's not the same thing. Dumbledore is unlikely to understand this time... Well, I can't argue with the three of you... The young wizards usually lead a bit of a stifling, boring life... They just study all day long... It's nice to have some Quidditch now and then to lighten things up."
Ares muttered.
"If Professor Dumbledore doesn't understand, then you lead us to fight him again, Professor Delfino!"
"Fred said excitedly. George and Lee nodded emphatically, and the three boys shouted together,"
"Take us on another trip, Professor!!!"
Looking at the three passionate boys in front of him, Ares's 'dilemma' and 'hesitation' vanished, and he nodded solemnly.
"good!"
.........
The following evening, at the faculty and staff dining table in the auditorium.
Ares looked solemnly at the old headmaster sitting in the large golden chair.
"I need to take my students for another run, Dumbledore... oh, cough cough, no—I mean, I'll be going out this Saturday and Sunday, Professor Dumbledore!"
Dumbledore: ......
