Chapter 12 Pride, Used in the Wrong Place
Chapter 12 Pride, Used in the Wrong Place
"Everyone, I have no prejudice against you. In fact, I envy you very much because, throughout the history of magic, the growth and strength of pure-blood wizards are far superior to those of half-blood wizards."
In the common room, his very first words stunned the little snakes, but Irving's next words made their expressions turn proud:
"You have innate advantages: your parents and the corresponding wealth. Your parents can allow you to come into contact with magic in advance, and you can have guidance in your studies before the start of school. The wealth left by your parents allows you to study and play without any worries, without having to worry about anything else."
That's right, that's the advantage of being pureblood, or rather, having a wizard in your family.
"But what I'm curious about is why you didn't amplify this advantage to the fullest extent, but instead focused on trying to get as close as possible to your classmates who were of mixed race or even Muggle backgrounds?"
The little snakes' expressions changed. They understood what he meant. Owen was saying that their purebloods were on the same level as the mixed-bloods!
They wanted to refute, but their mouths were open and they couldn't say a word, because their role model was right in front of them. Wasn't Kyrie Irving from a Muggle family?
But now, who among them dares to say that they are superior to him in magic?
Putting everything else aside, even a seventh-grade student couldn't use that staff-less spellcasting technique.
"At first, I thought it was your family's way of maintaining balance, but later I realized that it was you yourselves who misused your pride."
Pride... misused?
"If you were superior to your mixed-race classmates in magic, you would be proud. If you had made achievements in the academic field, contributing to the development and progress of the magical world, you would be proud. But you have neither of these, yet you are proud only because of your bloodline. I'm sorry, but I don't see what's so remarkable about that. Your bloodline is given to you by your parents, but you were clearly standing at a higher starting point, yet instead of jumping up, you jumped down..."
The little snakes' faces turned red.
Throughout its history, Slytherin has never produced any particularly outstanding talents. Instead, after graduation, most of them joined the ranks of dark wizards and became hated by everyone.
The little snakes were well aware of these things, and they were often used by the other three houses as an excuse to attack them.
There are sane little snakes who know this is not a good thing, but they have no choice but to endure it until graduation, and after they leave, they will not listen to or see anything that bothers them.
"So, what do we need to do?"
"Use your strengths."
What are our advantages?
The more perceptive little snake, after hearing this, only needed a moment's thought to understand what Irving meant: wealth?
"Now, you can write to your parents and family members and ask for money. As for the use of the money... the school's flying brooms are old and need to be replaced, the school's potion ingredients are always insufficient and need to be restocked, and the ingredients are too simple and also need to be purchased..."
Owen spread his hands: "There are far too many places where money is needed. Everyone, you must make it clear in your letters that this money is not for yourselves, but for all the students of Hogwarts. And this is only the first step!"
It's about buying fame with money!
The little snakes might not understand this, but their parents are very skilled at it. Once they get started, the snakes will naturally know what to do next.
"The second step is up to you, starting... tomorrow."
At 4:50 a.m., all the little snakes got up and started running laps with Owen. Because of their different physical conditions, they all gathered at the edge of the Forbidden Forest at 6:00 a.m., and then loudly recited incantations and practiced spell-casting gestures. Of course, Owen was leading them, starting with the simplest levitation spell and light spell.
Then they would go back to eat breakfast and attend classes, but during their free time, such as when reading, studying, or doing homework, all the little snakes would use magic, such as using the levitation spell to lift books, using the water purification spell to pour water for themselves, or continuing to practice spells somewhere.
Whether Hogwarts is chaotic or not, Gryffindor has the final say.
But now the Slytherin snakes are so busy that they have no time to argue with the foolish lion cubs. Instead, they are focused on improving themselves, which makes the lion cubs feel the pressure.
What are Slytherin trying to do?
Are they suddenly working so hard because they want to outdo us academically?
This won't do! It's always been our Gryphon school that's suppressing Slytherin!
The little lions didn't care about saving face at all. They just followed suit. Whatever time you Slytherin got up, we got up at the same time. Whatever you did, we did too. How you did it, we did too.
However, the lion cubs of the Gryphon Academy couldn't hold on for more than three days...
They don't have an Irving to keep them in check; the fact that they managed to hold on for three days is a testament to their determination.
Professor Snape had seen all the changes at Slytherin, but he said nothing. He simply explained things more thoroughly and deeply when he taught Owen alone. Even if Owen made a mistake, he would just ask him to try again instead of being sarcastic or critical.
"The affairs of the world, after a long period of unity, tend to divide; after a long period of division, tend to unite..."
Owen got out of bed and said this before even opening his eyes. Little White, also known as the White Phoenix, swung her crown and gave the little wizard a headbutt.
"Thump!"
"what!"
Irving rolled off the bed onto the floor, then rubbed his head and got up. The same circles were spinning in the eyes of both the human and the phoenix.
"Next time, don't use your head, use magic. I think the Water Cleansing Spell is great; it's invigorating and doesn't hurt your brain, what do you say?"
With a soft cry, Little White, sharing the same spirit as him, unleashed a Water Spell from its mouth, the powerful stream of water propelling Owen against the wall.
"Okay, I was still half asleep. It's alright, I'll use my headbutt again next time."
Owen often transfers his excess magic power into Little White's body, so Little White can now use magic. However, because of that excess magic power, its magic is much more powerful. A single Water Cleansing Spell is almost as powerful as a high-pressure water gun.
After a quick tidy-up, Owen went out for his morning run. This time, however, he wasn't wearing Slytherin's green robes, but rather a blue Ravenclaw robe. From today onwards, he had rotated into Ravenclaw and become a member of the Hawks.
