Chapter 556 Solitary Confinement?
"That old witch, that disgusting pink toad!"
After class, Ron, in an attempt to defend Harry, kept cursing Umbridge in the hallway.
But this didn't make Harry very happy; he still looked gloomy.
"It's alright, Harry, it's just one day of solitary confinement," Ron said casually. "We've been in solitary confinement many times before, haven't we?"
"No, I'm not concerned about the detention; I'm concerned about the time," Harry shook his head and said, "There's a Quidditch match tomorrow morning!"
"What?" Ron stopped abruptly. "Wait, Harry, I remember the Gryffindor tournament is next week, isn't it?"
"It was supposed to be next week, but Slytherin thought their Seeker wasn't in good form and requested a change in the order of the games," Harry said. "I just got the news this morning that the Gryffindor game has been moved up to tomorrow morning."
Ron was struck dumb.
"They must have done this on purpose—" he blurted out, instinctively feeling that it was all a Slytherin conspiracy.
But upon closer reflection, Harry was put in solitary confinement because he talked back to Umbridge, and the decision to switch matches took place before the Defense Against the Dark Arts class. Slytherin couldn't have known in advance that this would happen.
"How about we go to Ms. Hodge and have her reject Slytherin's application?" Ron said. "Isn't Malfoy Slytherin's Seeker? He seems perfectly fine; there's no sign of him being out of form. They just don't want to play in the snow!"
"I'm afraid that won't work." Harry shook his head. "Angelina said that it was Snape who went to see Lady Hooch personally."
Ron fell silent.
Snape was, after all, the head of Slytherin, and his words certainly carried more weight than those of the students.
"Perhaps we can go to Professor McGonagall," Hermione suggested.
After hesitating for a moment, Harry shook his head.
Professor McGonagall might be able to help postpone the match, but she's not Snape and is unlikely to do so—even if Harry is an indispensable Seeker for the team.
At that moment, Harry suddenly felt a pang of nostalgia for Sirius.
Whether it's the real Sirius or a fake Sirius, they will inexplicably favor Gryffindor. If Sirius were here, even if the match couldn't be rescheduled, it could at least be delayed until the day after tomorrow, when Harry's detention ends.
"What do we do now?"
"I have no idea----"
"You really shouldn't have been in such a hurry," Celen said. "I dare to go against Umbridge because Fudge wouldn't dare do anything to me, and she certainly wouldn't."
"Why?" Ron asked curiously.
"It's complicated to explain," Celen said. "In short, Umbridge knows very well that I have the power to get her out of her current position, so even if I say something she doesn't like, she'll just pretend she didn't hear anything."
"But Harry, she doesn't have that concern about you."
"No wonder—" Harry whispered.
He suddenly remembered that Siren was the first to throw the book away, but Umbridge hadn't said anything. And after he angrily threw the book away, he was immediately called out.
But Harry didn't regret it. There were some things he had to say, otherwise it would be too painful to keep them inside. Even if it meant being put in solitary confinement, he didn't care—well, it was still a bit of a hassle.
"Isn't there any other way?" Ron sighed. "Tomorrow is our match against Hufflepuff. Cedric is too strong. We're doomed to lose if Harry doesn't play."
"There is a way," Xilun said thoughtfully, stroking his chin.
"Could you ask Ms. Hodge to postpone the match?" Harry asked hopefully.
"Of course not," Siron said.
"Can you get Umbridge to lift Harry's confinement?" Hermione asked.
"That won't work either." Xilun shrugged. "At most, I can only keep her from bothering me."
"
"Then why did you say you had a way?" Ron immediately looked disappointed.
"Don't rush me," Celen said. "What I mean is, if Harry arrives on time but the office is empty, does that mean it's none of his business?"
"Hmm—" The three of them looked over at the same time. "What do you want to do?"
"I don't know," Celen said with a smile. "But why don't we ask Fred and George? They should have a solution."
After hearing what Siren said, apart from Hermione who hesitated a bit, Harry and Ron's eyes lit up.
However, it's still class time, so they have to go to the Spells classroom first, otherwise they'll definitely get points deducted if they're late.
Today they're learning the Muggle Repelling Charm, a relatively practical spell that can envelop a fixed area. Any Muggle who gets close will instinctively think of something more important and immediately turn away.
There are actually Muggle expulsion charms at the entrance of the Leaky Cauldron and on the wall separating Platform 9% at King's Cross Station.
However, compared to other types of spells, the banishing spell is significantly more difficult and more complicated to cast. Very few people in the class were able to cast it successfully, and the dummy representing the Muggles moved freely throughout the classroom.
Only when passing by Sheron and Hermione will they suddenly change direction and go somewhere else.
When get out of class ended, Professor Flitwick happily added ten points to Gryffindor's grade.
When the bell rang and Professor Flitwick announced the end of get out of class, a preoccupied Harry was the first to rush out of the classroom.
Soon, they found Fred and George in the auditorium, who were about to have dinner.
"So you mean to tell Umbridge to leave the office tomorrow morning, right?"
'
"That's right." Harry nodded.
"Do you have a solution?" Ron asked. "If Harry can't play in tomorrow's Quidditch match, we're doomed to lose."
"Of course." Fred and George exchanged a glance and smiled at the same time.
"Now that you've found us—"
"That means you trust us—"
"Of course we won't let you down," Fred said seriously. "Don't worry, leave this to us."
"What are you planning to do?" Harry asked.
"Hmm—" Fred was about to speak when he felt George tugging at his robes below. Looking up, he saw Hermione staring straight at them.
"Ah, what can we do to the professor?" Fred immediately changed his tune, saying in a very affected tone, "We just...go and reason with her."
"That's right, exactly," George said. "Harry, I have to say something to you. Since the professor has punished you with detention, you should just go to work as usual."
"But if—I mean if you can't get through to the Defense Against the Dark Arts office—" Fred winked, "don't forget to hurry to the Quidditch pitch."
