Chapter 510 An Invitation from Mrs. Weasley
"Gryffindor -50 points!"
Snape stared grimly at Fred and George, next to a pile of shapeless snow.
The two stood there obediently, heads down, not saying a word, putting on an honest appearance of admitting their mistakes and correcting them.
Whether or not it will actually change is not important.
In any case, their appearance quickly made Snape lose the will to continue lecturing them, and he left with the words, "Don't let me see you doing this kind of boring thing again."
As soon as Snape left, the two of them straightened their backs and swung their wands, throwing several snowballs they had secretly prepared, each containing a stone, at the gloating Slytherins not far away.
"Bang!"
"Ouch!"
"What is that—"
"My teeth!"
Screams rose and fell, but the perpetrators had already fled back to the castle.
"You're something else, Celeste," Fred said, still savoring the moment. "Wrapping a stone in the snow is more effective than magic."
"More importantly, it's convenient," George said with a smile.
"Don't talk nonsense," Xiren said seriously. "It was clearly a few stones that accidentally got mixed in when you were making snowballs; it has nothing to do with me!"
Fred and George exchanged a glance and chuckled simultaneously.
They're very familiar with that phrase.
Unfortunately, Snape didn't provide evidence or listen to their explanations; he immediately deducted points.
"Thank goodness I wasn't put in solitary confinement," Fred said. "Of all the professors, the one I least wanted to experience was Snape's solitary confinement."
"He always made us deal with those disgusting materials," George said, "the slime of the Flobber caterpillar,
Rat spleen, leech juice, and the like —”
"Fifty points deducted is quite a lot," Siron said, glancing at the hourglass in the corner of the auditorium.
A large portion of the Gryffindor hourglass disappeared out of nowhere, instantly becoming the bottom one.
"Oh, it's alright," George said nonchalantly.
"Yeah," Fred nodded seriously. "Anyway, you can always add the points back when the school year ends."
"Last year we got zero points, but you managed to put them back in first place."
"That's different," Siren said. "There's no reason to get extra points this year from the Triwizard Tournament."
"There will be—" Fred said with a smile. "We have faith in you."
They returned to the common room, and since there was still some time before dinner, Fred and George made some more plans for their Christmas holiday.
First of all, they will definitely have to leave the school.
The two decided to rent a shop in Diagon Alley during the holidays, and they also found several classmates who were willing to earn some pocket money for them during the Christmas holidays. These people would go to Diagon Alley to help out.
"Would you like to come along?" Fred invited Siren. "We can pay you three times the usual rate!"
"Three times? How much is that?"
"How about two Galleons a day?" George said with a smile. "That's the highest price we can offer."
""
“I pay Ron about this much during my holidays,” Celen said. “And he doesn’t even have to work a full day.”
"That's you inflating prices," Fred said. "Ron isn't worth that much. If he wanted to come, we'd only pay him two siscos."
"No, I think he should volunteer to help," George said.
"Tsk, Ron is really lucky," Siron said again. "He actually has two brothers like that."
"That's what we think too."
However, Xilun ultimately did not accept their invitation, not because he thought the money was too little—well, that was part of the reason, but more so because he had other things to do.
After December, the days became shorter and shorter, and soon it was completely dark outside.
Harry dragged his tired body into the common room.
He could have returned much earlier, but there was a slight hiccup in the process.
Peeves disguised himself and hid in the decorations in the auditorium, hoping to attend tomorrow's Christmas party in this way, but unfortunately, he was discovered.
Enraged, Pippi the Ghost somehow acquired a whole bunch of balloons filled with ink and wreaked havoc in the foyer and auditorium.
Harry and Hermione have been busy catching Peeves and cleaning up the ink splattered everywhere until now, finally able to catch their breath.
Afterwards, we went to the auditorium for dinner, did some homework, and then went back to our dormitories to sleep.
The next day at breakfast, Professor McGonagall brought over the application form for staying on campus for Christmas.
Anyone planning to spend Christmas at school needs to sign it.
Harry used to always sign it, but this year he didn't hesitate at all and handed the application form directly to Seamus Finnigan behind him.
"Sirius invited me home for Christmas." Harry's voice was tinged with excitement. "I accepted. I've been wanting to experience what it's like to spend Christmas outside of Hogwarts for ages."
Xilun subconsciously raised his head.
Before he could speak, the owls swarmed into the auditorium from outside.
One of them landed in front of them.
"It's a letter from Mom," Ron said, taking the envelope from the owl's beak and opening it to read.
“Harry, Mum asked me to invite you all to the Burrow for Christmas. You, Siren, and Hermione,” he said. “Percy’s alright, and Mum thinks it’s worth celebrating. This Christmas will be wonderful. And Bill and Charlie will be back too.”
"Ah, I'm fine." Siren's gaze lingered on Harry for a moment before he spoke first. "Anyway, I don't have anything else to do during the holidays, and I also happen to have some things to ask Charlie. Since he'll be back for Christmas, there's no need to write anymore."
"My dad promised to take me skiing abroad." Hermione hesitated for a moment, but quickly made up her mind. "Okay, Percy's situation is definitely worth celebrating. Skiing can wait until next year, I'm fine with that."
Because of their mutual respect as the first-place winners, Hermione and Percy have always had a good relationship, and she was willing to postpone her long-awaited skiing trip.
All eyes were on Harry.
"But Sirius, I've already promised him—"
"You don't think Mom didn't invite Sirius, do you?" Ron seemed to have guessed what Harry was thinking and shoved the letter into Harry's hand.
"Besides Sirius, Mom has also invited Professor Lupin. You can all come to the Burrow together."
Seeing that Mrs. Weasley had indeed invited Sirius, Harry didn't hesitate any longer and nodded in agreement.
Although he was looking forward to spending Christmas with Sirius, having everyone together was also a great option.
