Chapter 534: Their Fate
Chapter 534: Their Fate
Sophia not only subdued a creature as mighty as Fenrir, which would have required multiple peak 4th phase existences, while merely being a peak 2nd phase seeker herself.
But she also turned the Ragnarok Beast’s immortality into its own bane as it suffered the worst pain again and again.
Not to mention, due to the strange nature of her Radiation magic, even a 6th-phase existence might have difficulty understanding how the Radiation element could properly be expelled.
Through her sheer overwhelming might, Sophia Evercrest proved why the Valkyries were destined to be the strongest.
Unheeding of the wary reactions of the countless powerhouses gazing upon her with a piercing stare, Sophia slowly glided downward, putting her hand on top of the Immortal Wolf. She felt the power contained within the mythical creature; her eyes shone in greed, and she chanted, "Encroachment of the All-encompassing Darkness."
Darkness spread from her palms, spreading through the entire body of the mountain-sized red wolf. Through the Beast’s organ, blood vessels, and energy pathways, darkness flowed everywhere.
In every single cell of the creature where her All-encompassing Darkness touched, it automatically started to suck away all the near-endless vitality of the Immortal Wolf.
The absorption of life force was one of the basic traits of Sophia’s All-encompassing Darkness. A passive trait of her Darkness that works subtly. Allowing her to heal using the stolen life force of her enemies in mid-battle.
But now that she was completely focusing on amplifying that trait of her Darkness.
Her eyes flashed in excitement. The sheer amount of life force being absorbed was so great that it began to pour into her very soul sanctum in an unknown manner.
The crack in her Sanctum, due to the gap created in her memories, which had been a cause of great tension for her, now began to recover.
A trace of understanding rose in her heart; there was an ethereal link between Fenrir and someplace else, maybe outside of this world. Through that link, life force is continuously poured onto this creature.
Unfortunately, the Beast has to be killed, and there was no way of chaining it down or putting it into a separate space while the Beast was alive.
If not for that, Sophia would have preferred to keep Fenrir alive and continue absorbing its life force endlessly.
She could only let out a soft sigh and increase the absorption of the life force to such a degree that the ethereal link of energy transfer was forced to break.
Sophia understood why this Wolf was so difficult to kill; the only other way to kill it was to destroy every single cell of Fenrir in a matter of seconds with an overwhelmingly powerful attack, something that only 5th-phase existences can do.
Eventually, after five long minutes, as Sophia had absorbed all the immortal wolf’s potent life force, the Beast’s titanic frame slowly shrank, deflating like a balloon. Only skin and bones remained.
Everyone watched in shock.
At the same time, from the camp of the great kingdom’s army, a wave of mighty cheers followed, echoing throughout the battlefield. Morale of the 3rd phase seekers who fled due to the fear of Osiris had been restored by the act of the Valkyrie.
Yet, little did they know that Fenrir was a summoned creature of Enrick Samartan, and the enemy used it against their very own forces.
The unkillable Ragnarok Beast, which should be impossible to kill for those below the 5th phase, was now killed by her hands just like that. The Valkyrie did not even suffer the slightest bit of injury. In fact, she made it look too easy.
With a mental command, Sophia put the shriveled-up corpse into her storage space. Her gaze turned towards Osiris.
Axel had his palm placed on the ground, sucking in all the Darkness and souls of the dead, lingering throughout the battlefield.
From the moment Sophia started battling with Fenrir, the Demon had been focused solely on this.
Sophia’s eyes narrowed. She could not see what exactly the demon was doing. Still, she could sense ever so slightly a part of the Darkness lingering throughout the warzone being pulled towards him, like metal dust being attracted towards a powerful magnet.
But it was not exactly the Darkness that was being pulled towards the Masked Demon, but something akin to the Darkness, or maybe a part of it, which she could not perceive with her senses. She became curious.
Just as she was about to activate her Eye of Darkness to try and see through what the demon was actually plotting.
A commanding voice of Chancellor Helen rang in her ears, "Miss Sophia, please kill the Death Worm first, it has already killed more than 10 fourth-phase seekers, and two amongst them are from Suncrest."
Though the peak 5th-phase existence phrased her words politely, her tone was that of a superior commanding her subordinate.
Sophia could only swallow her anger and do as she was commanded, with no other choice, like an obedient dog.
Looking away from the Demon, her figure blurred as she appeared right above the titanic Death Worm that was running amok. She uttered coldly, "Switch aspect."
[Your Aspect has been switched to Saint]
[Your Aspectual title, Saint of Extinction, is in effect]
[Saint Aspect energy stat Saint Force is now accessible]
Sophia chanted without a change of expression, "Blade of the All-Encompassing Darkness."
Holding both her hands upward, her saint force imbued with Darkness, manifested into a sword of more than 400 meters in length.
Only then did the Death Worm notice the towering Grim Reaper hanging above its head; the shadow of a gigantic blade fell above the titanic Worm, making it shudder in fear.
Though the creature managed to kill some of the enemies that were striking it till now, it was also badly injured.
The 4th phase existences fighting the Worm hurriedly moved back with a trace of panic in their eyes; none of them were in optimal condition after holding off the damned Worm for so long.
But more importantly, from the looks of it, it didn’t seem like the Valkyrie was keen on making sure whether the 4th phase seekers were out of the range of her attack or not; she only intended to kill the Worm.
To Sophia, it didn’t matter if there were casualties as a result of her strike. She was only obliged to do as much as she was told.
In fact, she was more than happy to see the soldiers of the Suncrest Great Kingdom dying in the hands of the demon.
The moment she swung down the half-kilometer-long Blade, which was as tall as a small mountain.
The Death Worm shrieked madly in terror, sensing imminent death. The Worm did not hold back in the slightest and, using all the Death energy in its arsenal, the creature executed a destructive outburst of Deathly energies along with all demonic energy lingering inside it.
From the perspective of a bystander, it looked like a monstrous serpent was roaring out the purest Darkness from the depths of hell, dyeing the sky in blackness.
Sophia’s blade manifested from her potent Saint Force, further reinforced by the attribute of her All-Encompassing Darkness.
It cut through the heaven-shrouding Death Ray right in the middle as if a hot knife cutting through butter.
SHINGG!!!!
BANG!!!!
Her blade did not stop and continued until cutting through the towering Death Worm right in the middle, vertically splitting the creature in two.
SQUELCH!!!!
Two loud tremors ran through the crack-filled battlefield. As both halves of the Worm’s body crashed to the ground.
THUD!!!
Dark, putrid blood and wretched organs of the Titanic Worm spread out throughout the battlefield. Painting the reddish corpse-filled ground with the blackness of its corrupted blood.
The gigantic blade the Valkyrie had manifested dissipated; her expression was aloof. She hovered in the bloody red skies, like a shining dark star, with not a single injury on her body.
The Worm died on her hand with just one strike, even more easily than Fenrir. However, there was a reason behind it, as the Worm was already somewhat injured. Not to mention, the creature lacked versatility in battle.
Compared to Fenrir, the Death Worm’s mobility and strength were also lesser. Regardless of it, this act done by the Valkyrie brought forth such an amount of shock and reverence from the hearts of human seekers that it could not be measured.
At the same time, the Ghost army looked at her with emotions that stood at opposite ends of the spectrum—filled with Wariness and Hatred.
Unconcerned with the emotions of the Ghost or Human Armada, Sophia flew towards the plotting Demon. The Masked figure was not yet off the battlefield, only on the edges. In the same posture as before, with his palm placed on the ground.
Shouts came from behind her, warning her not to go.
However, Sophia did not stop; she only increased her speed instead. Though the demon was close to the camps of the Ghost army, she remained unafraid; even if she was to be ambushed, she wanted to fight Osiris.
For reasons she did not even realize, from the moment that demon appeared on the battlefield, a part of her thoughts always went back to him, as if an invisible force were attracting them towards each other.
Even if one side had her memories erased and the other side had their emotions erased, even if one side did not know the other, and remained in disguise. Yet, like the opposite poles of two magnets, they were forever bound to meet.
To clash, and to love and to hate.
For this... was their destiny.
This was... their fate.
