The younger Shigeru and Rokuta lay on his back.
Takeo was the first to notice that Ryosuke and Tanjiro had returned.
He immediately lunged at Tanjiro.
"Brother, Mr. Yasui, you're back! Mom left breakfast for you in the kitchen, saying she'd wait for you to come back and eat."
"Okay, thank you, Takeo."
Tanjiro gently patted his younger brother's head, his eyes full of tenderness.
Ryosuke smiled and nodded, "Thank you for your help."
In the kitchen, Kui Zhi left them some warm porridge and side dishes.
Ryosuke and Tanjiro sat down facing each other and quietly ate their breakfast.
At that moment, Tanjuro was sitting on the veranda.
He was thin and had an unusually peaceful expression as he quietly watched the children playing.
The sunlight shone on him, giving him an almost transparent sense of tranquility.
Ryosuke looked at the father and son, his expression somewhat hesitant.
Seemingly sensing Ryosuke's change in mood, Tanjuro slowly turned his head.
“Mr. Ryosuke, please feel free to speak.”
Ryosuke sat down next to Tanjuro, his voice tinged with apology.
"Mr. Tanjuro, although this request is somewhat presumptuous, I would like to obtain blood samples from you, Tanjiro, and Nezuko."
Tanjiro's hand holding the bowl stiffened slightly.
He instantly thought of his father's illness, and a hint of worry flashed in his eyes.
Tanjuro smiled knowingly: "Mr. Ryosuke, you mean..."
Ryosuke readily admitted it.
"The Demon Slayer Corps has outstanding doctors who are highly skilled in drug research."
"I'd like to give them your blood sample for analysis. It might help with your condition, even though the chances are slim. It's always good to have another option."
"As for Tanjiro and Nezuko..."
Ryosuke paused and looked at the two of them.
"As your immediate family members, their blood can provide a reference for comparison, allowing for a more comprehensive understanding of the situation."
This statement is half true and half false.
While researching Tanjuro's illness was one of the goals, the more important one was to help Tamayo develop a medicine that could turn demons back into humans as soon as possible.
Now that Ryosuke has found Tanjiro's family, he will prevent the tragedy from happening.
In that case, Nezuko won't become a demon.
Although there are some deviations from the original work, there is still plenty of time.
If they could obtain the blood of the three individuals from their human days, along with the Blue Spider Lily, Tamayo's talent might not prevent her from achieving her goal.
Tanjuro smiled gently: "I understand, Tanjiro, Nezuko, let's cooperate with Mr. Ryosuke."
He didn't ask for details, nor did he show any suspicion.
Since you've entrusted this to someone, then trust them completely.
Ryosuke nodded and took out blood-drawing tools from his bag.
Tanjuro didn't react at all during the entire process, and it went exceptionally smoothly.
However, Tanjiro and Nezuko, who are still young, are bound to be a little nervous.
Ryosuke was much gentler with the two of them, taking two portions in total.
Once everything was settled, Ryosuke and Kyojuro bid farewell to the Kamado family.
Tanjiro led his younger siblings all the way to the mountain pass, waving goodbye repeatedly.
"Goodbye, Tanjiro! Take good care of your family!" Kyojuro called out.
"We definitely will! Mr. Rengoku, Mr. Yasui, take care on your journey!"
Tanjiro responded with equal force.
After leaving Mount Kumotori, Ryosuke and Kyojuro parted ways.
Kyojuro returned to the Rengoku family to continue his training, while Ryosuke went to the Butterfly Mansion.
As evening fell on the journey, Ryosuke summoned Chachamaru.
He stuffed the blue spider lily, one of the blood samples, and a letter explaining the situation into his bag.
Chachamaru rubbed against Ryosuke's fingers and disappeared into the darkness.
Ryosuke then quickened his pace and arrived at the Butterfly Mansion.
As soon as he entered the courtyard, he heard the laughter of children.
The addition of the Shinazugawa family brought a touch of warmth and community to the Butterfly Mansion.
Ryosuke ran into Genya Shinazugawa as soon as he entered the corridor.
"Mr. Ryosuke! You've arrived!"
The boy with the rooster-comb haircut was carrying bottles and jars, greeting everyone enthusiastically.
Ryosuke smiled and said, "It seems you've learned a lot lately."
"Yes! Kanae-neechan taught us a lot!"
As Xuanmi spoke, a hint of worry flashed across his face: "Um, how is my brother?"
Ryosuke smiled with delight.
Thanks to his intervention, the Shinazugawa brothers did not have the estrangement seen in the original story, which is very gratifying.
"Don't worry, although Luanfeng Mountain Stream is a bit tough, Mr. Pingshan is a very nice person, and your brother has found new companions there."
"A new...companion?"
With my brother's explosive temper, how does he even have friends?!
Seeing his expression, Ryosuke chuckled to himself.
As the saying goes, every pot has its own lid.
Your brother not only made some great buddies, but he'll have two!
"Alright, I'll introduce you next time we meet. Where's Kanae?"
"Kanae-neechan has gone on a mission, and Shinobu-neechan is in the medicine preparation room."
Genmi answered truthfully.
She's really hardworking...
Kanae juggles both the Butterfly Mansion and the Demon Slayer, and even her free time is filled with training and treating the wounded.
The industrious little bee made even Ryosuke, that sly dog, feel ashamed of himself.
This is why Kanae is the fourth Pillar of the Golden Generation in the original work, after Giyu and Tengen Uzui, even faster than Sanemi and Kyojuro.
"understood."
Ryosuke nodded and went straight to find Shinobu Kocho.
The medicine preparation room is located next to the medicinal herb garden.
Shinobu Kocho was busy looking at the table full of bottles and jars.
Ryosuke knocked on the open door.
Upon hearing the sound, Shinobu looked up and immediately put down the reagent in her hand.
"Mr. Ryosuke! You've arrived!"
Ryosuke approached and took out another blood sample.
"I came here today to ask you and Kanae to help analyze this."
Ryosuke concealed the identities of Tanjiro's family, saying only that they were special patients and their families whom he encountered in the mountains during a mission, and that he hoped to study their physical condition and symptoms.
"Okay, I'll study it with my sister when she gets back."
Shinobu Kocho took the sample and nodded.
"However, Mr. Ryosuke, I have recently made new progress in my research on wisteria flower toxins!"
Ryosuke raised an eyebrow and sat down beside her.
Shinobu Kocho spoke at length, showcasing her findings to Ryosuke.
Similar to the original story, it was a toxin extracted from wisteria flowers and formulated to rapidly corrode the cells inside the evil spirit's body.
However, it can only deal with ordinary demons nowadays, and it's not even enough to deal with the lower moon demons.
But for Shinobu Kocho, this was already a breakthrough.
She is now fully capable of slaying evil spirits on her own.
However, Ryosuke offered a different perspective.
"Xiao Ren, could you possibly mix the poison from your wisteria flowers into explosives?"
Shinobu Kocho was taken aback, clearly not following Ryosuke's leap of thought.
"Look..."
Ryosuke patiently explained.
"If we use the blast radius of explosives to expand the area covered by the toxin, wouldn't that increase the kill radius and applicability?"
"Especially when dealing with a large number of evil spirits, or when large-scale suppression is required."
"It's like throwing explosives into a latrine, and then it flies out of the sky!"
