Raccoon City is like a powder keg with a lit fuse.
The periphery was quietly sealed off, internal conflicts raged, and a deadly virus was brewing.
And they are now at the center of a powder keg.
"Boss, what are you thinking about?"
Nami, holding a handful of diamonds, asked curiously.
Zhou Ye pulled back the bolt, producing a crisp metallic sound.
“I was thinking,”
He stood up, walked to the window, and looked out at the deep night.
"The game is about to begin."
Nami looked at his tall, straight back, then looked down at the jewels scattered on the ground.
A game? What game?
Forget it, as long as it's a game that makes money, it's fine!
She picked up a ruby the size of a pigeon's egg and admired it.
The night is still very long.
But the darkness before dawn is often the deepest.
Chapter 51 Jill's Visit
At five o'clock in the morning, the gold and gems piled up in the safe house were quickly cleared out and moved into Zhou Ye's storage space.
He and Nami returned to the two-story house in the suburbs.
The fake copy constructed from Honkai energy continued to move around in the living room, maintaining the illusion of being monitored.
The two real people were fast asleep in their bedroom upstairs.
September 20th, at exactly 12 noon.
dong dong dong.
A knock on the door, not urgent but clear enough, rang out.
Inside the bedroom, Zhou Ye instantly opened his eyes, and Nami beside him also became alert.
somebody is coming.
Zhou Ye did not get up immediately. The ability of the [Herrscher of the Void Fragment] quietly extended and connected to the miniature [Biomonitor] that he had previously set up outside the house.
A woman with chestnut-blonde hair, dressed in casual clothes, stood outside the door, her expression showing some anxiety.
Gil Valentine.
Why is she here? Zhou Ye frowned.
[STARS people, coming to us on their own initiative? Troublesome.]
Nami also saw the person who came through the shared senses, and her face showed confusion.
"Is it that policewoman?"
"Ah."
Zhou Ye got up and got out of bed, quickly tidying his clothes.
"I'll go open the door, you get ready."
He walked down the stairs, where the "Zhou Ye" clone, constructed from the abilities of the [Herrscher of Reason] and [Talking Tom Fragment], was sitting on the sofa watching TV. Hearing the knock, it got up and went to the door.
The real body and the clone silently intersected in the entrance hall, and Zhou Ye took control of the body.
He reached out and turned the doorknob.
Click.
The door opened.
Jill stood outside the door and saw Zhou Ye open it; her expression seemed to soften slightly.
"Zhou Ye".
“Officer Jill.” Zhou Ye turned to the side.
"Please come in."
As Gilmour stepped through the door and her body brushed against Zhou Ye, Zhou Ye's fingers tapped her arm subtly a few times.
Tap. Tap tap. Tap tap tap. Tap. Tap tap.
Morse code.
[Yes. Eavesdropping.]
Jill paused almost imperceptibly for a moment, then regained her composure and went inside.
She quickly glanced around the living room, where "Nami" was walking out of the kitchen, carrying a glass of water.
[Damn Umbrella, eyes and ears everywhere!]
Jill cursed inwardly, but showed concern on her face.
She looked at Zhou Ye and said meaningfully:
"Zhou Ye, how are you doing?"
Her voice was filled with worry.
"I heard you've been buying weapons."
Zhou Ye's face showed appropriate fatigue and helplessness, and he sighed.
"Come in and sit down."
He gestured towards the sofa.
"Nami, go get a glass of water."
"Yes, boss," the clone "Nami" replied, then turned and went back into the kitchen.
"Boss? Wasn't he still that kind of guy before?"
"We use titles when we're at work, but now it's our leisure time. Our relationship is a bit complicated. Nami usually calls me 'boss,' and I've asked her to change it several times, but if she doesn't want to, so be it."
"Come, sit down and talk."
Zhou Ye led Jill to the sofa.
"After something like this happened, if you're lucky enough to survive, you'll naturally want to have something to protect yourself."
He sat down and looked at Jill.
"I happened to have a handgun license, so I went and bought one."
He asked rhetorically.
"And you, Officer Jill, how are things?"
Upon hearing this, Jill's face immediately showed genuine anger, and she slumped onto the sofa with a significant movement.
"I?"
She hummed, her volume perfectly controlled.
"I've been suspended by that damned Elons!"
"The reason is that my investigation report is wildly imaginative! Nonsense! I should be a screenwriter in Hollywood, not a police officer here."
She gritted her teeth and clenched her fists.
"Fuck those shitty bureaucrats! A bunch of bastards!"
[Suspended? Director Elons... Umbrella's pawns are finally starting to move.]
Zhou Ye thought to himself.
"We are the same."
Zhou Ye chimed in, his tone carrying a sense of shared misfortune.
"Nami and I were also forced to take a break by the school, which was said to require psychological counseling."
He spread his hands.
"They probably thought what we said was too outrageous."
The atmosphere in the living room was somewhat somber.
The clone "Nami" walked over with a glass of water and placed it on the coffee table in front of Gil.
"Drink some water, please."
"Thank you," Jill nodded.
She picked up the water glass, but didn't drink it; she just held it in her hand.
Zhou Ye looked at Jill and continued the previous topic.
"Where are your companions? I mean, the ones who went through the train incident with you... You're not the only one left in this city, are you?"
"them……"
"Everyone has left this heartbreaking city. After what happened, who would dare to stay?"
As Jill said those words, she tapped the inside of the glass lightly with her fingers.
Tap tap. Tap. Tap tap tap. Tap. Tap tap.
Go. Investigate.
Sure enough, STARS didn't give up. They went to investigate the clues.
Zhou Ye received the message.
"It's better to leave."
